Eucalyptus torquata (Coral Gum)

Eucalyptus torquata is a small, highly ornamental tree endemic to Western Australia, distinguished by the contrast between its soft blue-grey to grey-green foliage and its smooth, mottled bark in shades of cream, pink, and grey. The twisted branching habit and pendulous leaves give the tree a sculptural, architectural presence year-round.

From late winter through spring, Coral Gum produces large clusters of coral-pink to red flowers held above the foliage, creating a vivid seasonal display and attracting nectar-feeding birds. The bark becomes more visually prominent with age, adding further character once flowering has finished.

Naturally adapted to dry, rocky soils and exposed conditions, this species performs reliably in full sun with good drainage and requires minimal maintenance once established. Its modest size and open canopy make it well suited to home gardens, courtyards, streetscapes, and feature plantings, where form, colour, and structure are prioritised.
