Hakea prostrata (Upright Inland Form)
Hakea prostrata (Upright Inland Form)
Hakea prostrata (upright inland form) is a distinctive and highly resilient shrub native to inland regions of Western Australia. In contrast to the low, spreading coastal forms, this inland variant develops a strongly upright, sculptural habit with rigid, spiny foliage, giving it a bold and unmistakable architectural presence in the landscape.
Adapted to harsh conditions, it tolerates heat, wind, frost, and poor soils, making it exceptionally reliable in challenging sites. Small, pale flowers are produced along the stems and provide an early nectar source for insects, while the dense, spiny structure offers excellent shelter for small birds.
